A 20-year-old man is being treated for stab wounds after a fight broke out between two groups of people in Ashfield on Wednesday.
Police say a physical altercation broke out on Ashfield Reserve on Guildford Road about 2.30pm.
During the altercation it is alleged a 17-year-old boy grabbed a 20-year-old man’s shirt and stabbed him once in the back with a knife before fleeing on foot.
Midland Detectives arrested the youth a short time later and charged him with one count of grievous bodily harm.
He is due to appear in the Perth Children’s Court on Thursday.
The 20-year-old man was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of the stab wound and is believed to be in a stable condition.
